Abstract

Triticale (X. triticosecale Wittmack) is the first hybrid cereal developed to combine the bread-making properties of wheat with the rusticity of rye. Although it is configured as a multipurpose crop with comparative advantages over other cereals, its market remains marginal. This article aims to present the technological forecasting on triticale, providing an overview of the technological development related to the crop and its main applications, and identifying possible alternatives that can outline future opportunities for market development. Results indicate a concentration of patent filings in cultural treatments and the dependence of the production chain on the technological development of other cereals. The predominance of registrations in these areas may suggest the low economic interest or market acceptance of triticale products.
