The use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in manuscript preparation
The Revista Eletrônica Científica da UERGS accepts the use of AI tools, when used responsibly, that means, these tools can not be used as a substitute for human critical thinking, expertise and evaluation. CAPES has an AI platform for research purpose:

Authors preparing a manuscript for an Elsevier journal can use AI tools to support them synthesize complex literature, provide an overview of a field or research question, identify research gaps and provide tailored support for tasks such as content organization and improving language and readability.
AI tools should always be applied with human oversight and control. Ultimately, authors are responsible and accountable for the contents of their work. This includes accountability for:
    a) Check the output: Review all AI content carefully to make sure it is accurate, complete, and unbiased. Always check the sources, because AI can fake references.
    b) Edit thoroughly: Rewrite the material so it matches your unique voice. The final paper must show your own insights, ideas, and analysis.
    c) Be transparent: Clearly state any tools or sources you used. If you used AI, you must include a disclosure statement when you submit your work.
    d) Protect privacy and rights: Read the terms of any AI tool you use. Make sure your data, intellectual property, and legal rights stay safe.
    Responsible use of AI tools
    a) Protect your data: Check the AI tool's terms to keep your unpublished work and personal info private.
    b) Keep your rights: Do not let the AI use your data for training. Only allow it to provide the service you need.
    c) Watch the output: Make sure the AI does not restrict how you publish your final work. Always check for facts and bias.
    1. Disclosing AI Use
You must include an AI declaration statement upon submission for any use of AI
Standard Format: Use the section title "Declaration of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the manuscript preparation process" and state the tool name, reason for use, and that you take full responsibility.

    2. Authorship Rules
Humans only: AI tools cannot be listed or cited as authors or co-authors.
Responsibility: Human authors are solely responsible for the paper's originality, accuracy, integrity, and ensuring it does not violate third-party rights.
    3. Rules for Figures, Images, and Artwork
Explanatory Images (Flowcharts, Diagrams): You can use AI to help create these. You must disclose the specific tool and version in the image caption and the general AI statement.
Data Visualizations (Graphs, Charts): You can use AI only if the visual is directly and faithfully made from real data using reproducible steps. Describe this in the Methods section. Never use AI to fake or alter data.
Primary Research Images (Microscopy, X-rays): Do not use AI to create or alter these images. Use standard software only for basic edits like brightness or contrast.
    Graphical Abstracts:
Take care with the result. It is preferable using a program to construct the Graphical abstract. Inform if AI was used.
Forbidden: Primary research images (microscopy images, histology images, western blots, gels, radiology scans, patient images, etc.).
